St. Helens. The first night we tried dispersed camping&#8211; it was the first time I&#8217;d done it in a while but, aside from getting lost AND finding bear hair and scat a few yards from our tent the next morning, it was a surprisingly fun experience. And now I am much less afraid of fire.<\/p>\n<p>Right. Golden-mantled ground squirrels, I believe. Look like chipmunks, really squirrels.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ansatejones.com\/digitalis\/nwtour07\/squirreltrunk8749.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ansatejones.com\/digitalis\/nwtour07\/trunksmountain8750.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ansatejones.com\/digitalis\/nwtour07\/trunksmountain8753.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ansatejones.com\/digitalis\/nwtour07\/squirrelnom8756.jpg\" width=\"550\" \/><br \/>\nThey were friendly.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ansatejones.com\/digitalis\/nwtour07\/overlyfriendly8758.jpg\" width=\"550\" \/><br \/>\nThey got a bit overly friendly at times.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ansatejones.com\/graphic\/mtsthelens\/wutsquirrel8760.jpg\" width=\"550\" \/><br \/>\nWUT.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ansatejones.com\/graphic\/mtsthelens\/squirrelofthewild8765.jpg\" width=\"550\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ansatejones.com\/graphic\/mtsthelens\/lake8767c.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ansatejones.com\/digitalis\/nwtour07\/kenlake8768.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ansatejones.com\/digitalis\/nwtour07\/melake8771.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ansatejones.com\/graphic\/mtsthelens\/helenswood8776.jpg\" width=\"550\" \/><br \/>\nI think I took this exact picture before, about 9 years prior. I&#8217;ll have to dig it up and see.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ansatejones.com\/digitalis\/nwtour07\/kencar8778.jpg\" \/><br \/>\nKen patiently waiting for me while I stalk a deer.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ansatejones.com\/graphic\/mtsthelens\/bird8784.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ansatejones.com\/digitalis\/nwtour07\/birdtree8785.jpg\" width=\"550\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ansatejones.com\/graphic\/mtsthelens\/birdtree8786.jpg\" width=\"550\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ansatejones.com\/digitalis\/nwtour07\/dinnerfire8788.jpg\" width=\"550\" \/><br \/>\nDinner was mostly successful.
