{"id":242,"date":"2006-12-09T12:45:21","date_gmt":"2006-12-09T20:45:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ansatejones.com\/blog\/2006\/12\/09\/1st-day-in-england-blackheath-greenwich-and-piccadilly-circus\/"},"modified":"2006-12-09T12:45:21","modified_gmt":"2006-12-09T20:45:21","slug":"1st-day-in-england-blackheath-greenwich-and-piccadilly-circus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ansatejones.com\/blog\/2006\/12\/09\/1st-day-in-england-blackheath-greenwich-and-piccadilly-circus\/","title":{"rendered":"1st day in England: Blackheath, Greenwich, and Piccadilly Circus"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>part 2 of my england collection of photos.  these are actually OF england the country, too, so perhaps they&#8217;ll be a little more exciting than the last set. ;P<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ansate.moosheep.org\/webstuff\/digitalis\/england\/gwbh\/foxdoor77.jpg\" \/><br \/>\nthis is the front door of the house where we stayed all week.  the fox door knocker is a testament to the large urban red fox population in the area.  i actually saw one in the next door neighbor&#8217;s backyard through the bathroom window, but didn&#8217;t get to my camera in time to get a definitive picture. the knocker will have to do.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ansate.moosheep.org\/webstuff\/digitalis\/england\/gwbh\/englandcoffeecup.jpg\" \/><br \/>\nas soon as we got in we felt compelled to have tea.  i fell in love with one of their coffee cups.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ansate.moosheep.org\/webstuff\/digitalis\/england\/gwbh\/kenenglandcup.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ansate.moosheep.org\/webstuff\/digitalis\/england\/gwbh\/catfruit.jpg\" \/><br \/>\non our way through blackheath to greenwich. cats don&#8217;t like their pictures taken, so i must tell you that the cat looked like an intentional window dressing before i got the camera out. now it&#8217;s trying to hide itself.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ansate.moosheep.org\/webstuff\/digitalis\/england\/gwbh\/blackheath32.jpg\" \/><br \/>\nblackheath!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ansate.moosheep.org\/webstuff\/digitalis\/england\/gwbh\/specmonument.jpg\" \/><br \/>\nsome monument to the queen. not like there&#8217;s many of THOSE in england, right?<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ansate.moosheep.org\/webstuff\/digitalis\/england\/gwbh\/greenwich33.jpg\" \/><br \/>\ngreenwich!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ansate.moosheep.org\/webstuff\/digitalis\/england\/gwbh\/greenwich34.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ansate.moosheep.org\/webstuff\/digitalis\/england\/gwbh\/tsscheese.jpg\" \/><br \/>\nthere was some weird clock exhibit at the greenwich observatory, one section asking kids to write down when time &#8220;stood still for them.&#8221; this answer was good, but the next is even more silly (ATTN SPOILERS LOL):<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ansate.moosheep.org\/webstuff\/digitalis\/england\/gwbh\/tssdumble.jpg\" \/>  <\/p>\n<p>next page: greenwich park!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ansate.moosheep.org\/webstuff\/digitalis\/england\/gwbh\/greenwich41.jpg\" \/>  <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ansate.moosheep.org\/webstuff\/digitalis\/england\/gwbh\/gwbole.jpg\" \/><br \/>\ngreenwich has a nice park with lots of pretty (and old) trees.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ansate.moosheep.org\/webstuff\/digitalis\/england\/gwbh\/kentreehugger40.jpg\" \/><br \/>\nwe were quite taken with them.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ansate.moosheep.org\/webstuff\/digitalis\/england\/gwbh\/gwdeer43.jpg\" \/><br \/>\nwe found a deer sanctuary in the park!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ansate.moosheep.org\/webstuff\/digitalis\/england\/gwbh\/gwdeer48.jpg\" \/>            <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ansate.moosheep.org\/webstuff\/digitalis\/england\/gwbh\/gwfawn56.jpg\" \/>    <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ansate.moosheep.org\/webstuff\/digitalis\/england\/gwbh\/gwfawn57.jpg\" \/>      <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ansate.moosheep.org\/webstuff\/digitalis\/england\/gwbh\/gwfawn58.jpg\" \/>  <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ansate.moosheep.org\/webstuff\/digitalis\/england\/gwbh\/gwfox.jpg\" \/><br \/>\ni guess there&#8217;s a halfway decent picture of a fox visiting the deer.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ansate.moosheep.org\/webstuff\/digitalis\/england\/gwbh\/strictlyprivate60.jpg\" \/><br \/>\none thing about england is that their phrasing is so polite. you should have seen the warning signs in the airport customs area.<\/p>\n<p>next page: &#8220;the heath&#8221; and piccadilly circus!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ansate.moosheep.org\/webstuff\/digitalis\/england\/gwbh\/gwraven63.jpg\" \/>            <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ansate.moosheep.org\/webstuff\/digitalis\/england\/gwbh\/ravengw68.jpg\" \/>   <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ansate.moosheep.org\/webstuff\/digitalis\/england\/gwbh\/ravensgw70.jpg\" \/><br \/>\nthe ravens also didn&#8217;t like having their pictures taken. so after a while i gave up and focused on the pretty tower on &#8220;the heath&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ansate.moosheep.org\/webstuff\/digitalis\/england\/gwbh\/gwtower71.jpg\" \/>         <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ansate.moosheep.org\/webstuff\/digitalis\/england\/gwbh\/gwtower73.jpg\" \/>  <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ansate.moosheep.org\/webstuff\/digitalis\/england\/gwbh\/mekenheath64.jpg\" \/><br \/>\nhere we are lying on some dead people! how romantic!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ansate.moosheep.org\/webstuff\/digitalis\/england\/gwbh\/mekenheath67.jpg\" \/>     <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ansate.moosheep.org\/webstuff\/digitalis\/england\/london\/alienspaper85.jpg\" \/><br \/>\non the underground.  dr. who series 1 was right!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ansate.moosheep.org\/webstuff\/digitalis\/england\/london\/lambwindow83.jpg\" \/><br \/>\nthis really disturbed me.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ansate.moosheep.org\/webstuff\/digitalis\/england\/london\/picadilly81.jpg\" \/><br \/>\npiccadilly circus is just beautiful at night. and look! doubledecker buses! can it get any more british?
