The Arty Blogness of Ansate Jones

grad group retreat 06

still working through my 2006/2007 pictures. here’s my grad group’s annual retreat from a year ago, at mclaughlin natural reserve. which is apparently an old mining site or something.

the scavenger hunt

this one always reminds me of the wizard of oz

and we always find bones.

pretty but toxic.

we found boxes with riddles on the bottom, and had to solve them to figure out which animal was inside the box. i hoarded most of the animals afterwards.

we got odd prizes.

i like taking pictures of laura.

and teresa.

at some point my lens got a smear on it. i kind of like how some of the pictures turned out though; it softened the harsh sunlight.

bats and naps

after the scavenger hunt some lady came in with a small bat on her hand. while i was there i was obviously fascinated with the bat, but looking back i find i’m now much more fixated on her hands.

this looks like an album cover.

jess’s one-eyed dog.

this one cracks me up.

can i swear? i’m going to swear here, watch out: Just Look at That Fucking Sky.

at some point barbara arrived to rescue some of us.

KEEP OUT OF THE TREE

i like this one a lot too.

don’t know what this is.

they look like superheroes.

i adore how i managed to line up this one.

croquet, champagne, and wheels

in the evening, croquet and champagne.

and some sort of small cart racing.

the cookie to end all cookies.

this was a neat field station, it’s just the rest of the place was a little scary.

right before we left the next morning i had to take more pictures of the bones.

i just happen to like apples. (taken by ken)
