state fair ’06

state fair trip with ken and janie in september!

first order of business was to use up the rides we bought. my pick was the swing ride (my absolute favorite of carny rides)

after rides we decided to try to find the baby animals and petting zoo. we kept getting lost.

eventually after much frustration following the wonky signs, we hit paydirt.

born an hour before we got there! welcome to the world little hamburger!

i think they all look so exhausted.

alas, no holding of the piggies today, but at least we saw some speckled ones!

the goats at the petting zoo were already talking smack about us.

at least i don’t look absolutely ridiculous when i eat.

the Exalted Lama!

everybody wanted their pictures with the Exalted Lama.

last year a deer was doing this exact thing.

we’re the trio. you’ve heard of us.

this guy gave me the hardest time getting his picture! he was pretty ornery. or shy.

the deer were ravenous that day. i swear, these roles were reversed with the goats last year.

finally the deer fixated on ken. i guess to the animal kingdom he’s one big salt lick.

janie hit it off with this bear thing. they’re already talking of the wedding.

mario showed up but he just wanted to nap.

i’m not making this up. there was a bling category in the arts and crafts building. and there’s an altoid’s tin on the guitar. and yes, a bling toilet seat cover.

harry potter chess set! too bad it’s the same 10 characters repeated over and over. those are not turds, by the way, on the griffindor side. they’re sorting hats. i know, i got confused at first too.

the love ducks

this is generally what happens when one sees a cockatoo. they just gape at it in wonder.

goliath, the biggest turkey evar, or something. he was kind of scary and i thought he’d peck the lens out of my camera.

the superheroes exhibit was sort of lame. but here’s a lego batman.
